Lower back pain is a common nuisance in our modern society.
Lower back pain can interfere with the things you want to do in life such as getting in and out of the car, sleeping, picking up a baby, and standing and cooking. The pain can come and go but if it isn’t addressed with care it can become a greater problem. Low back pain is the second most common reason why people go to their doctor. Second only to the common cold.
The most common way to hurt your lower back is by moving a heavy object.
Many times people have underestimated the weight of an item and realize it while they are moving the object. The best advice… put the object down and go ask for help. It’s a simple solution, and it will prevent from another problem happening. If you do need to lift something off the floor, or low surface, make sure to squat down and use your leg muscles instead of bending at the waist. This can really help keep your lower back pain from being aggravated or made worse.
Second Most Common Cause
Sitting too much. Sitting is one of the worst activities for your health. It can accelerate deterioration of your spine, muscles, and circulation. Taking short 60-second breaks often and stretching or walking to the bathroom, etc. is all your lower back needs to recuperate a little.
The third cause
consists of a twisting movement. Many times people hurt there lower back pulling stuff out of the trunk of the car.. only it was in the corner way in the back! Twisting and bending together add a lot of pressure on your back, and makes it vulnerable to injury. The simple solution is to break up the movements. Pull the object directly towards you, and then lift it up using good body mechanics. Most people just twist, pull, and lift all at once! Think before acting.
